Research Associate: Histotechnology - Contract - San Diego, CA

À±½·ÊÓÆµ is seeking a Research Associate to support histology sample preparation and related workflows.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role involves tissue processing, embedding, sectioning (frozen and FFPE), and histological staining. You will play a key role in ensuring consistent sample preparation and slide production while contributing to method validation and process documentation.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Background in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in fresh frozen and FFPE histology workflows, including fixation, grossing, tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
  • Familiarity with various tissue types and histology instrumentation.
  • Experience with automated histology systems, including stainers, coverslippers, and IHC/ISH equipment.
  • Knowledge of imaging practices and slide scanning relevant to histology workflows.
  • HTL certification is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience supporting multiple workstreams in a centralized histology hub or CRO is strongly advantageous.

The Research Associate: Histotechnology's responsibilities will be:

  • Perform histology sample preparation, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining (IHC/ISH).
  • Operate and maintain histology instrumentation such as cassette-slide printers, tissue processors, paraffin embedders, cryostats, microtomes, and slide stainers.
  • Support automated specimen and slide tracking systems.
  • Collaborate with the core lead and vendors to upgrade, customize, and maintain equipment.
  • Prepare and validate IHC/ISH samples and methods.
  • Create, edit, and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical training materials.
  • Document workflows using electronic lab notebooks.

Compensation:

  • $45 to $55 per hour.
